The Park boasts of an eclectic mix of flowers, plants, and trees that you are certain to find captivating, especially when you traverse the nature trails. Small birds are often seen in the peaceful strolls and shady spots, while occasionally bigger and more impressive birds can be spotted near the Intracoastal Waterway and lagoon.

The park we know as Spanish River Park is named after a stream that meandered through the area in the past. This park spans 94.4 acres and has undergone changes thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Nowadays, boaters know the stream as part of the intracoastal waterway.

Historical maps depict the river as Boca Raton’s Lagoon, yet later inhabitants and entrepreneurs chose to name it after the ancient Spanish river. The park retains evidence of the winding watercourse
